Whoa, just realized I had not updated a post since January. It’s probably because we had Grandma Pam in town for awhile so I didn’t feel I had to give updates since this blog is really dedicated to keeping her in the loop on our activities while we away (I’m not sure if Grandpa reads these as well). Anyway, it’s time to start posting again so they can stay “in the know.” I guess a good place to being is with our first trip to Lake Tahoe in March where the kids got to ski and snowboard for the first time. We stayed in South Lake Tahoe for the most part and spent any day on the slopes at Sierra at Tahoe. We were lucky enough to have the Lum’s join us because their older son is one of Kira’s best friends and their middle son is one of Riley’s best pals in school so it worked out perfectly! The kids went to ski school and the adults got to do a little skiing and snowboarding themselves. Unfortunately, we also had a newborn in our midst so Momma Lum didn’t get to join us on the slopes this year, but it was the first time ever for the dads to try snowboarding. They did GREAT! Then we were also lucky enough to meet up with some of our best friends on the North side of Tahoe and we visited the Olympic Museum at the top of Squaw Valley. There are some pics below, but if you want a bigger picture of the event captured on video. You can watch it here. Sorry, it’s a bit long. You’ll need about 15-17 minutes to watch it so get some popcorn. Anyway, we had a blast and I highly recommend a visit to Lake Tahoe AND Sierra at Tahoe if you have young kids.

It begins…take me out to the ball game
Posted by thelotuspond under Family and FriendsLeave a Comment
We signed our boy up for baseball. Primarily because our friend was the coach and it was about time he had some outside activity besides playing with the dirt and bugs in our backyard. Here’s a video of his first attempt at fielding a ball and throwing. (Note: This is the point when we realized he has never watched baseball before and probably isn’t familiar with the concept of baseball.) He had a blast, but looks like we’ll need to do a bit of practicing. Any uncles out there wanna help teach the boy baseball? Unfortunately, that was Todd’s “worst sport” (those are his words). Lol.

Happy Holidays all! We love this time of year. Even though it’s busy, it’s wonderful because it’s when we get to see more of our family and friends and reflect on what’s important. Thanks to all of our friends and family and the people who make our lives memorable and so filled with love. This year, in lieu of printed cards, we created a year-in-review type of video to share with everyone at the link below. We hope you enjoy it and wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Sorry if some of you get this post twice, this blog autoposts to other sites. Our love and aloha!

What takes a video game from good to great? While I was growing up, Nintendo came into existence after several rounds of video game attempts. What Nintendo did, far surpassed anything seen in the past. It also created characters which have become icons that have transcended time.
I want to say that the Mario character first appeared in Donkey Kong before getting his own game title and claim to fame, but that might not be correct. I’m using memory here, so bear with me. Anyway, Super Mario became a super success that catapulted Nintendo into history as one of the most successful game consoles ever.
Fast Forward to Angry Birds. It’s so simple, and yet so popular. Has it earned Super Mario status yet? What are your thoughts?
In the meantime, enjoy these pics of my kids sporting Mario and Angry Bird hat gear. lol.

What’s new Scooby Doo?

Growing up, I enjoyed watching Scooby Doo. Nice to know my kids love it too. Of course it’s all spruced up with a new theme song vs. the one I grew up with. Here’s my kids’ version of it.
